If you’re the host of a meeting but need to leave before the meeting ends, you’ll want to designate a new host or else the meeting will close once you leave. In a Zoom meeting, you can designate someone else as the host, giving them control over the meeting. Follow these steps to make someone else a host:
On your Zoom interface, locate the "Participants" option. Clicking this button will open up a list of all meeting participants.
Locate the participant whom you want to make a host in the Participants list.
On a desktop computer, hover your cursor over the participant's name in the Participants list. On a mobile device, tap the participant's name to select it.
A "More" button or option should appear when you hover over or select the participant. Click or tap it to reveal a dropdown menu with additional options such as “Chat”, “Stop Video”, “Pin”, “Spotlight for Everyone”, “Make Host”, and more.
In the dropdown menu, you should see an option like "Make Host".
After selecting "Make Host", you'll typically receive a confirmation message. This confirms that the participant has been made a host or co-host.
The selected participant will now have host privileges.
If you want to regain host control, you can request the new host to make you the host again.
That's it! You've successfully made someone else a host on Zoom.
